Joshua Baraka is a Ugandan singer-songwriter, recording artist, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer known for his soulful sound and genre-blending approach to African contemporary music. Born on 13 December 2000 in Kawempe, Kampala, Baraka grew up surrounded by music, drawing early inspiration from his mother, who was a worship leader and choir member.

His musical style blends Afrobeats, R&B, Dancehall, and Amapiano, while his songwriting often explores love, relationships, personal growth, and the realities of young adulthood. A skilled musician, Baraka plays instruments including the piano and guitar, bringing a distinctive musicality to both his performances and productions.

He began his professional journey with the 2021 EP Baby Steps, before gaining wider recognition in 2023 with the hit single “Nana.” The song earned attention across Uganda and East Africa and established Baraka as one of the region’s emerging musical voices. He followed this success with projects including Growing Pains, Growing Pains (Deluxe), Recess, and Juvie, alongside collaborations with artists from across Africa.

With a growing catalogue that includes songs such as “Nana,” “Dalilah,” “Lonely,” “Touch Me,” “Falling in Love,” and “Wrong Places,” Joshua Baraka continues to build his reputation as one of Uganda’s promising young artists, combining authentic storytelling, contemporary African sounds, and a fresh artistic identity.
