The Ben, born Benjamin Mugisha on January 9, 1987, is a Rwandan singer-songwriter known for his soulful Afro-R&B sound. He began building his music career in Rwanda before moving to the United States in 2010, where he expanded his musical reach and collaborated with international artists.
The Ben gained widespread recognition with songs such as “I’m in Love,” “Why,” “Vazi,” and “Suko.” His collaboration with Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz on “Why” further strengthened his presence across East Africa. A multiple-time Salax Music Award winner, The Ben remains one of Rwanda’s prominent voices in contemporary R&B and Afro-pop.
