Dancehall
Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Azim Palmer on January 7, 1976, in Jamaica, is a Jamaican dancehall artist widely known as the “Worl’ Boss” and “King of Dancehall.” He rose to prominence in the early 2000s with his distinctive style, provocative lyrics, and influential presence in Jamaican music.
Kartel gained international recognition through hits such as “Romping Shop,” “Clarks,” “Dancehall Hero,” and “Fever.” His music and artistic style have influenced a new generation of dancehall and global artists, including Drake. Despite spending years in prison, he continued releasing music and remained one of dancehall’s most influential figures. After his murder conviction was quashed in 2024 and a retrial was declined, Kartel was released from prison and returned to the spotlight.
