Amber Rose (born Amber Rose Levonchuck on October 21, 1983) is an American model, television personality, author, entrepreneur, and media figure. She rose to fame in the late 2000s through her appearances in hip-hop music videos and her relationship with rapper Kanye West. Over the years, she has expanded her career into television, music, publishing, business, and social activism.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rose grew up in South Philadelphia. Her father, Michael Levonchuck, has Irish and Italian ancestry, while her mother, Dorothy Rose, is of Cape Verdean descent. She began working at a young age to help support her family before entering the entertainment industry.
Rose gained wider attention in 2008 after appearing in the music video for Young Jeezy’s song “Put On,” which featured Kanye West. Her relationship with West brought her further media exposure, and she later appeared in a Louis Vuitton advertising campaign associated with his sneaker line. She also signed with Ford Models and appeared in music videos featuring artists such as Ludacris, Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, and Fabolous.
She went on to build a television career, appearing on reality shows and serving as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race. In 2016, she competed on the 23rd season of Dancing with the Stars, finishing in ninth place with professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy. That same year, she hosted The Amber Rose Show on VH1 and began presenting the syndicated radio program Loveline.
Rose also explored music, releasing her debut single “Fame,” featuring Wiz Khalifa, in 2012, followed by “Loaded.” She later appeared on Khalifa’s album O.N.I.F.C. Beyond music, she launched the clothing line Rose & Ono with Priscilla Ono and published her book How to Be a Bad Bitch, which shares advice and personal experiences related to careers, finances, relationships, and fashion. In 2016, she launched MuvaMoji, an emoji application featuring hundreds of icons.
In 2015, Rose founded the Los Angeles chapter of SlutWalk, a movement aimed at challenging sexual harassment, victim-blaming, and the shaming of women over their appearance or perceived sexual behavior. Through the event, she spoke about her own experiences with bullying and sexual shaming, helping bring these issues into mainstream entertainment discussions.
Rose’s personal life has also attracted considerable public attention. She dated Kanye West from 2008 to 2010 before marrying rapper Wiz Khalifa in 2013. The couple welcomed a son together, but Rose filed for divorce in September 2014, and they later shared custody. In 2019, she welcomed a second son with music executive Alexander “A.E.” Edwards. She subsequently expanded her digital career by joining OnlyFans in 2020.
Rose has also drawn attention for her political views. After criticizing Donald Trump in 2016, she publicly announced her support for him in 2024 and formally endorsed him during the Republican National Convention in July of that year.
Through her work in modeling, television, publishing, entrepreneurship, and activism, Amber Rose has established herself as a recognizable figure in American popular culture, maintaining a public presence across entertainment and social media.
