Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have both beaten Manchester City in 2026, but the way they did it has created an interesting comparison for football fans.
Arsenal secured a 3–0 victory over City in the FA Community Shield, with Riccardo Calafiori, Kai Havertz and Martin Ødegaard scoring for Mikel Arteta’s side. The win gave Arsenal silverware and a strong result against one of their biggest rivals.
PSG went a step further on the scoreboard, defeating City 4–2 at the Etihad Stadium in the UEFA Champions League. Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, Vitinha and Maghnes Akliouche scored for the French club, while Erling Haaland found the net twice for City.
The connection between the two results is clear: Arsenal and PSG scored seven goals between them against City across the two matches, while conceding just two. Arsenal kept a clean sheet, whereas PSG managed to score four times on City’s home ground.
However, the victories came in different competitions, making the comparison about more than just the scorelines. Arsenal’s win showed its ability to keep City from scoring, while PSG’s performance highlighted its attacking output in a major European fixture.
For Manchester City, the two defeats provide a reason to examine how the team performed against two of Europe’s leading clubs. But two results alone do not establish a long-term problem.
With both Arsenal and PSG recording convincing wins, fans have a natural question to debate: which team delivered the more impressive performance against City?
Was Arsenal’s 3–0 win more convincing, or was PSG’s 4–2 victory at the Etihad the bigger statement?
