The Rwandan singer surprised fans at BK Arena by inviting his Burundian collaborator to perform “Yampayinka.”
Rwandan artist Kivumbi King gave fans a memorable moment at the BK Arena during the Kwita Izina Concert on Saturday night.
While performing his recent collaboration “Yampayinka,” Kivumbi surprised the crowd by bringing Burundian artist Kirikou Akili onto the stage. The two artists then performed the song together as fans cheered.
“Yampayinka,” released recently, has brought together two rising artists from Rwanda and Burundi. Their live performance at one of Kigali’s biggest concert venues highlighted the growing connection between the two countries’ music scenes.
Kirikou Akili’s surprise appearance quickly became one of the talking points from the concert, with videos of the performance being shared across social media.
The Kwita Izina Concert is part of the celebrations surrounding the 21st Kwita Izina. Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema is headlining the event, alongside several Rwandan and regional artists.
The performance by Kivumbi King and Kirikou Akili gave fans a strong regional music moment as Rwanda and Burundi came together on the BK Arena stage.
