Coyote vs. Acme has made a strong start at the box office, opening with an estimated $15.5 million in the United States and Canada over the weekend.
The Looney Tunes comedy finished at No. 2 behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which remained at the top of the North American box office for a fifth consecutive weekend. The result also marks the biggest opening in the history of independent distributor Ketchup Entertainment.
The performance is particularly notable because Coyote vs. Acme had one of Hollywood’s most unusual journeys to theaters. The completed film was shelved by Warner Bros. in 2023, with the studio pursuing a tax write-off. After significant backlash, Ketchup Entertainment acquired the worldwide distribution rights in 2025 and brought the film back to the big screen.
Directed by Dave Green and starring John Cena, Will Forte and Lana Condor, the live-action and animated hybrid follows Wile E. Coyote as he takes legal action against Acme Corporation over the products that repeatedly leave him injured and frustrated.
The film has also received a strong response from critics and moviegoers. Coyote vs. Acme currently holds a 95% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a 94% audience score.
After spending years without a release, Coyote vs. Acme has finally reached audiences—and its opening weekend gives the long-delayed Looney Tunes film a promising start at the box office.
