DJ Frass is putting the spotlight back on one of dancehall’s most familiar traditions with the release of the “Group Chat Juggling” riddim.
The project features several artists recording different songs over the same instrumental, giving each performer the opportunity to bring their own sound and style to the production.
Among the standout releases are Mavado’s “Group Chat” and Shenseea’s “Tightness.” Mavado brings his recognizable melodic dancehall delivery, while Shenseea adds her own energetic approach to the riddim.
The project also features Aidonia and Nigy Boy, making it a diverse lineup that connects established dancehall stars with younger voices.
The “juggling” format has long been part of Jamaican dancehall culture, with producers creating one riddim and having multiple artists voice their own tracks over it. DJ Frass’ latest project brings that tradition into the current streaming era.
With several songs and videos arriving around the same time, “Group Chat Juggling” is giving dancehall fans different versions of the same rhythm to debate, compare and enjoy.
