Paris Saint-Germain defeated Barcelona 4–2 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, October 20, after a thrilling match at the Parc des Princes in Paris. Barcelona fought back twice to level the score, but late goals from Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz secured the victory for the reigning European champions.

PSG took the lead in the 38th minute when Désiré Doué scored after Barcelona lost possession. The hosts went into half-time with a 1–0 advantage.

Barcelona responded after the break. Xavi Espart scored in the 55th minute to make it 1–1, giving the visitors hope of turning the match around.

However, PSG regained the lead in the 72nd minute when Lucas Hernández headed the ball into the net from a set-piece delivery by Doué.

Barcelona refused to give up. Lamine Yamal scored in the 79th minute to make it 2–2, setting up a tense finish in Paris.

PSG answered almost immediately. Vitinha scored from outside the penalty area in the 81st minute to put the home side ahead again. Five minutes later, Fabián Ruiz finished a cross from Achraf Hakimi to make it 4–2 and secure all three points.

The result ended Barcelona's unbeaten start to the 2026–27 season after 12 matches across all competitions. PSG, meanwhile, moved to nine points from their first three Champions League matches, maintaining their perfect record in the league phase.

The match also showed the difference in how the teams handled the closing minutes. Barcelona twice found a way back into the game, but PSG responded with two goals in the final stages to settle the contest.

For PSG, the victory strengthens their position in the Champions League league phase. Barcelona must now recover from their first defeat of the season as their European campaign continues.
