G-Eazy and Ty Dolla $ign have released their new song “JFK,” marking the start of a new chapter for the Bay Area rapper. Released on September 25, “JFK” arrives just days after G-Eazy announced a new partnership with Ty Dolla $ign’s EZMNY Records and EMPIRE. The move takes G-Eazy outside the major-label system after more than a decade and follows six albums released through RCA Records.
The song was first heard live in New York when G-Eazy made a surprise appearance during Ty Dolla $ign’s show at Madison Square Garden last weekend. The two performed “JFK” together before the song was released officially. The track was produced by Nic Nac and is the second single from G-Eazy’s upcoming album, following “Pretty Girls.”
For G-Eazy, the release carries a bigger meaning than a new collaboration. He said his new partnership is about working with friends and giving creativity and music more freedom. Ty Dolla $ign has also described the deal as part of the artist-first approach behind EZMNY Records.
G-Eazy first gained wide attention with songs such as “Me, Myself & I” and “No Limit,” while his albums These Things Happen, When It’s Dark Out and The Beautiful & Damned helped build his career. Now, with “JFK,” he is beginning a new stage with Ty Dolla $ign and EMPIRE while keeping his music connected to the West Coast.
