Love can change, and sometimes the hardest part is watching someone you once loved build a life with somebody else. Angolan singer Gerilson Insrael explores that painful reality in his new song, “This Is What Matters,” accompanied by an official music video released on October 16, 2026.

Originally titled “Isso é que importa” in Portuguese, the song centres on love, separation and the difficult emotions that follow when a relationship comes to an end. Its message reflects the experience of accepting that someone who once played an important role in your life may eventually move on.

Musically, Gerilson draws on semba, a traditional Angolan genre, while incorporating elements associated with kizomba. The arrangement gives the song a smooth, emotional feel that supports its themes of love and loss.

Gerilson also took a hands-on role in the recording process. According to the release information, he composed, produced, mixed and mastered the track at XB Studios under his XB Label. Matilson Bass contributed bass guitar, Konstantino played lead guitar, and Carla Moreno provided backing vocals.

The release adds another chapter to the Angolan artist’s 2026 music output, following his earlier song “Corrida.” With “This Is What Matters,” he brings the focus back to a familiar human experience: learning to live with change when love does not end the way we hoped.
