Jason Statham is back for another dangerous mission in The Beekeeper 2, and this time, he must fight the secret organization that trained him. Amazon MGM Studios released the first official teaser trailer on October 15, giving fans a look at the next chapter of the action franchise ahead of its scheduled January 15, 2027, theatrical release.
Statham returns as Adam Clay, a former government assassin who was living a quiet life as a beekeeper before the events of the first film changed everything. In the 2024 movie, Clay set out to avenge the death of a friend after she became a victim of a phishing scam. His investigation led him into a much larger network of corruption and powerful people.
The sequel raises the stakes by turning Clay against the Beekeepers, the secret organization connected to his past. According to the film’s official synopsis, the group has gone rogue and is seeking to take control of the U.S. government. Clay is pulled back into action to stop the very people who trained him, setting up a new conflict that takes the story beyond his earlier fight for revenge.
The teaser also offers a taste of the franchise’s explosive action. One notable moment features Wallace Westwyld, played by Jeremy Irons, helping Clay prepare for the mission with a 1969 Dodge Super Bee fitted with weapons. The footage also shows Clay using a flamethrower against an enemy, continuing the series’ violent and over-the-top action style.
Irons returns as Wallace Westwyld alongside other familiar faces, including Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi and Jemma Redgrave. New additions to the cast include Pom Klementieff, known for her role as Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, actor and professional wrestler Adam Copeland, and Yara Shahidi, who is known for Grown-ish.
Another major change is behind the camera. David Ayer directed the first film, but the sequel is directed by Timo Tjahjanto, the Indonesian filmmaker known for action movies such as The Night Comes for Us and Nobody 2. Kurt Wimmer returns as a writer, joined by Zak Penn, as the creative team develops the next stage of Clay’s story.
The original The Beekeeper became a box-office success after its release in 2024, helping establish the franchise around Statham’s character and his unusual connection to the world of beekeeping. The sequel builds on that foundation with a larger threat, new cast members and a mission that puts Clay in direct conflict with his former organization.
The Beekeeper 2 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on January 15, 2027. The first teaser has introduced the central conflict, but audiences will have to wait for the film to discover whether Clay can stop the Beekeepers before their plans put the government at risk.
