Tanzania’s Jihan Mohin Dimack has returned home after making history as the winner of Miss Grand International 2026, bringing the international beauty pageant crown to Tanzania and Africa for the first time.
Jihan arrived at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, October 17, following her victory at the competition’s final in Bangkok, Thailand, on October 10. The Miss Grand International Organization announced her homecoming and shared plans for her return alongside its president, Nawat Itsaragrisil.
Her victory marked a major milestone for Tanzania. By winning the international title, Jihan became the first Tanzanian and the first African woman to claim the Miss Grand International crown since the pageant began.
The achievement has placed her at the centre of celebrations back home, with supporters welcoming her return after her success on the international stage. Her homecoming also gives Tanzanians an opportunity to celebrate a result that has brought their country new attention in the world of beauty pageants.
During the competition, Jihan represented Tanzania among contestants from around the world. Her win followed the final held in Bangkok, where Ecuador’s Shyare Andrade finished as first runner-up.
Now back in Tanzania, Jihan begins her reign as Miss Grand International 2026 with a historic achievement behind her. Her victory represents a new milestone for the country and a first for Africa in the competition.
As celebrations continue, her return marks another important moment in a journey that has taken her from representing Tanzania on the international stage to bringing home the pageant’s golden crown.
