Kate Bashabe made a brief appearance at the Gen-Z Comedy show held at Camp Kigali on Friday, August 28, 2026, where she had come to support children attending the event.
She arrived with school supplies from Rahura, which were meant to be given to children for free. However, after spending about 20 minutes at the show, Kate left before the planned giveaway.
Her early exit quickly became a talking point, especially after comedians included her in some of their jokes during the show. This led to speculation among some attendees that she may have taken the jokes personally.
However, Fally Merci, a Gen-Z Comedy organizer, clarified that Kate’s departure was not related to the comedians. He said she had another commitment and had to leave, while the organizers later distributed the school supplies she had brought.
