Kim Kardashian says she sometimes holds back her 13-year-old daughter, North West, from taking on some entertainment projects as she grows more interested in music and life in the spotlight.
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times Style, Kardashian said she worries about raising her children in the public eye. She explained that each of her four children has a different level of interest in fame, but North wants more attention than her younger siblings.
“North loves it a little bit more than the rest. I hold her back,” Kardashian said.
She added that North wants to take on “forward-facing projects,” but the family tries not to accept every opportunity that comes her way. Kardashian said they want to enjoy North’s childhood while making careful decisions about her growing career.
Kardashian also said she and North’s father, Kanye West, are on the same page when it comes to their daughter’s music career. She explained that they communicate better about North’s music projects and make sure they agree on the opportunities she takes.
North has already started building her own path in entertainment. She released her debut EP, N0rth4evr, earlier this year and appeared on the cover of Dazed magazine. She has also performed at major music events and recently held her first solo concert in Chicago.
North has made it clear that music is something she wants to pursue. In an interview with Dazed, she said the worst advice she received was to start her career later, explaining that music is something she enjoys and wants to do with her life.
Her plans have also included a 14-date tour with rapper Molly Santana. The planned tour was canceled in July, with North later confirming that it would no longer happen. However, neither North nor her family publicly said that Kim's concerns about her career were the reason for the cancellation.
For now, Kardashian appears focused on finding a balance between supporting North's ambitions and protecting her childhood. Her comments show that while North is already building a public career, her parents still want to have a say in how quickly she moves into the spotlight.
