Lionel Messi’s upcoming animated series, “Messi and the Giants,” has revealed its first teaser ahead of its global premiere on Disney+ in summer 2027.

The teaser was presented on October 2 at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga in Spain, where more than 3,000 fans gathered to learn more about the new sports-fantasy series. Messi serves as one of the executive producers on the project.

“Messi and the Giants” follows a 12-year-old boy named Leo, who becomes trapped in an alternate reality called Iko. The world is controlled by powerful giants, and its different realms have become fractured.

To find his way home, Leo must take part in high-stakes football-like battles using powerful orbs. He must face legendary giants and help restore the broken realms of Iko.

One of the main ideas in the story is that Leo does not have access to the special code powers used by others in Iko. Instead, he must depend on his football skills, teamwork and determination to overcome his opponents.

The series also features an Argentine connection behind the voice and music. Argentine actor Milo Burgess-Webb will voice the young Leo, while Argentine artist Luck Ra performs the show's original theme song, “Vamos, Vamos, Vamos,” which was introduced with the teaser.

Messi is joined by producers from Sony Pictures Television and Sony Music Vision. The official credits also list his late father, Jorge Messi Pérez, as an executive producer in memoriam. Animation for the series is being handled by Atlantis Animation.

The project brings together football, fantasy and animation while using a young version of Messi-inspired Leo as its central character. Its story focuses on teamwork, courage, perseverance and believing in yourself.

“Messi and the Giants” is scheduled to premiere globally on Disney+ in summer 2027. It will also air on Disney Channel in the United States. Disney has not yet announced an exact premiere date.
