Remy Ma has released the official music video for “Rem The Pen,” putting the spotlight on the Bronx rapper’s lyricism and her place in hip-hop.
The lyrics have also drawn attention to Remy Ma’s long-running history with Nicki Minaj. On “Rem The Pen,” Remy says the two will “probably never speak again,” before pointing to Minaj’s acknowledgment of her writing ability. The track also names several female rap artists, including Cardi B, Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah. These references place Remy’s reputation as a lyricist at the center of the song while revisiting a rivalry that has followed both artists for years.
The music video was directed and edited by Dom Bruno, who also handled color grading. Nick Sheehan served as director of photography, while Ripe—Tanjerines handled production. The crew included first assistant camera operator Camilo Calderon, second assistant camera operator Cooper McVay, and production assistants Matt Racca, Evan Kenney and Chris Furgison. 5frentals provided equipment rentals, while ExitFame handled casting.
With the new visual, Remy Ma brings further attention to “Rem The Pen,” a track that puts her lyricism and her history with other female rappers in the spotlight.
