Nigerian singer Runtown took the stage at Spotify’s “Surround Sound” event in Lagos on Saturday night, September 26, as the platform celebrated his music and the 10th anniversary of his hit song “Mad Over You.”
The private event brought together music and entertainment figures for an intimate night focused on Runtown’s career and his influence on Afrobeats. “Mad Over You,” released in 2016, remains one of his most popular songs and continues to attract millions of streams on Spotify.
Runtown opened his performance with “Lagos to Kampala,” his collaboration with Wizkid. He later performed other well-known songs from his catalog, including “Mad Over You,” “Unleash” and “Energy.” Spotify lists all four songs among Runtown’s popular tracks.
One of the night’s notable moments came when Runtown spotted Ghanaian content creator Gisela Amponsah in the crowd. He handed her the microphone, allowing her to join him during the performance. The moment later drew attention on social media.
The Lagos showcase gave fans and guests a chance to revisit some of Runtown’s biggest songs while marking a decade since “Mad Over You” became a major part of his career.
