Singer Sia and her estranged husband, Daniel Bernad, have reached an agreement on custody arrangements for their young son, Somersault Wonder Bernad, following a difficult period in their divorce proceedings.
According to reports citing court documents, the agreement sets out how the former couple will share legal custody, divide parenting time and manage holidays. Their son, whom they call “Summi,” was born in March 2024.
The custody dispute became public in October 2025, when Bernad sought sole custody and questioned Sia’s ability to care for their son, citing alleged substance abuse. Sia denied the allegations and said she had been sober and was continuing her recovery. A judge rejected Bernad’s emergency request for sole custody in October 2025. People reported on that ruling.
The agreement also includes significant financial responsibilities for Sia. Under terms reported in April 2026, she agreed to pay Bernad $42,500 per month in child support. She is also responsible for their son’s health insurance, private school tuition, agreed extracurricular activities and uninsured medical expenses. The arrangement includes a $5 million life insurance policy or trust for the child’s financial protection. People reported these terms after reviewing court documents.
Sia previously addressed the monthly payments publicly, saying she was the family’s sole income earner and describing the period as difficult. She also said she wanted to focus on her family and move forward.
Sia filed for divorce in March 2025 after the couple’s marriage in 2022. The custody agreement marks an important development in their separation, although it does not mean every issue connected to their divorce has necessarily been resolved.
For now, the focus remains on the arrangements for their son as both parents move forward with their separate lives.
