The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, becoming the first film released in 2026 to reach the milestone. The animated sequel has continued the strong commercial run of Nintendo and Illumination’s Mario franchise.
Released in April, the movie takes Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach beyond the Mushroom Kingdom and into a galaxy-spanning adventure involving Princess Rosalina, Bowser Jr. and Yoshi. The film also introduces new characters and expands the world established by the 2023 hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
The film is currently streaming exclusively on Peacock in the United States, where it became available on July 30. A Netflix release is scheduled for November 30, 2026, according to the reported Universal streaming timeline.
The sequel features returning voices including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi and Jack Black as Bowser. New additions include Brie Larson as Rosalina, Donald Glover as Yoshi, Glen Powell as Fox McCloud and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.
With its billion-dollar box office performance and expanding Nintendo universe, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has established itself as one of the biggest animated releases of 2026. Its arrival on Netflix later this year is expected to give the film another major audience beyond theaters and Peacock.
