The Weeknd has surprised fans with a new song during the opening night of the final Asian leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour in Japan.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, performed the new track on September 19, 2026, at the Belluna Dome in Saitama.

Fans have been calling the song “TOKYO,” although its official title has not yet been confirmed. The track features a sample from “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis,” the famous opening theme of the Japanese anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, originally performed by Yoko Takahashi.

The Weeknd had previously teased an instrumental version of the track during his tour. The new performance in Japan featured vocals and a more complete version of the song.

The surprise performance quickly caught attention online, especially among fans of The Weeknd and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Many fans are now waiting to see if the song will receive an official release.

The Weeknd continues his After Hours Til Dawn Tour with more shows in Asia following the Japan dates.
