Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 has crossed the $1.1 billion mark at the global box office, adding another major success to one of animation’s most recognizable franchises.
The film, directed by Andrew Stanton and co-directed by Kenna Harris, returned Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the familiar characters for a new story centered on the changing way children play.
After its successful theatrical run, Toy Story 5 is now heading to Disney+. The film will begin streaming exclusively on September 23, 2026, giving audiences the chance to watch the latest chapter from home.
The story introduces Lilypad, a new tablet device voiced by Greta Lee, which becomes a major challenge for Bonnie’s toys. As technology competes for Bonnie’s attention, Woody, Buzz and Jessie find themselves facing a very different kind of threat from the one they have encountered in previous films.
The movie also features returning voices Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear and Joan Cusack as Jessie, alongside new and supporting cast members including Greta Lee, Conan O’Brien, Tony Hale and Craig Robinson.
For fans who do not want to wait for Disney+, the film became available for digital purchase and rental on August 18, while physical editions are scheduled for September 22.
With more than $1.1 billion earned worldwide and a Disney+ debut now set, Toy Story 5 is continuing the franchise’s remarkable run more than three decades after the original film introduced audiences to Woody and Buzz.
