John Legend has teamed up with hip-hop duo Clipse for “Bodies On The Floor,” a new collaboration that combines soulful vocals, rap and a dramatic black-and-white music video.
Released on October 23, 2026, the song appears on Legend’s new album, Muse, which was produced and co-written by Pharrell Williams. The official music video was directed by Grammy-nominated filmmaker Paul Hunter.
The video follows two lovers caught in a cycle of hurt, betrayal and reconciliation. Legend performs at the piano as the story unfolds, while Clipse members Pusha T and Malice appear to deliver their verses. Its cinematic style brings action and relationship drama together, showing how conflict can lead to more conflict when neither side is ready to let go.
Legend said the idea for the song came while he was watching the crime drama MobLand. The show’s themes of gang conflict and revenge helped inspire him to explore a troubled relationship through the language of violence. The song uses this approach to connect emotional struggles with the repeated cycle of retaliation.
“Bodies On The Floor” also continues the musical connection between Legend and Clipse. Legend previously appeared on the duo’s 2025 album Let God Sort Em Out, contributing vocals to “The Birds Don’t Sing.” Their latest collaboration brings the artists together again on a track from Legend’s Pharrell-produced album.
With Muse, Legend explores a different sound that brings together soul, hip-hop and cinematic influences. The “Bodies On The Floor” video adds a dramatic visual story to that direction, giving viewers another way to experience the collaboration.
