Dolly Parton left behind a musical mystery that fans will have to wait years to hear.
The country music icon recorded a previously unreleased song titled “My Place in History” and sealed it inside a time capsule at Dollywood in Tennessee. The song is scheduled to remain hidden until 2045.
Parton spoke about the unusual project in her 2020 memoir, explaining that she wrote and recorded the song specifically for people in the future. She later admitted that waiting to hear it again was difficult because she believed it was a “really good song.”
The time capsule is expected to be opened in 2045, giving fans a rare chance to hear a Dolly Parton recording that has remained completely unreleased for decades.
Following her death at 80 on August 25, the secret song has become an even more significant part of her musical legacy.
