Dame Dash has made it clear that he does not want to join JAY-Z on stage at the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, while questioning how the rapper should approach one of music’s biggest performances.

In a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, the former Roc-A-Fella Records executive said JAY-Z should not call him to appear at the event.

“Don’t even call me for the Super Bowl,” Dash said, adding that he had no desire to attend.

His comments come after the NFL, Roc Nation and Apple Music confirmed that JAY-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It will be the rapper’s first time headlining the event, despite Roc Nation’s role in producing the halftime show since 2019.

Dash also questioned whether JAY-Z could deliver a memorable performance without bringing out artists connected to his musical history.

He pointed to Dr. Dre’s 2022 Super Bowl halftime show as an example of how a major hip-hop performance can bring together artists with strong connections. That show featured Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and surprise guest 50 Cent.

Dash also questioned the idea of bringing Beyoncé on stage again, asking, “How many times can you bring Beyoncé out?” His remarks reflect his personal view of what would make the performance stand out. No guest performers have been officially announced for JAY-Z’s show.

The comments also bring attention to the long history between Dash and JAY-Z. The two were business partners at Roc-A-Fella Records alongside Kareem “Biggs” Burke, helping build the label into an important force in hip-hop during the 1990s.

Their business relationship later broke down, and they have publicly disagreed on several occasions since then.

JAY-Z’s Super Bowl performance is now confirmed, but the setlist and guest appearances remain unknown. Dash’s comments add another talking point as fans wait to see how the rapper will approach the halftime stage.
