DreamWorks Animation is getting ready to release its new animated movie “Forgotten Island” on September 25, 2026.

The movie tells the story of two best friends, Jo and Raissa, who are about to finish high school. The story is set in the 1990s, when the two friends discover a strange glowing portal during their final night together.

The portal takes them to a hidden magical island called Nakali. The island is beautiful, but it is also dangerous. Anyone who stays there for too long begins to lose their memories.

Jo and Raissa must find a way to leave the island before they forget their friendship and everything they have shared together.

“Forgotten Island” is also special because it brings Filipino culture and mythology into a major DreamWorks animated movie. The island is filled with creatures from Filipino stories and legends.

The movie was directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, who have been friends since working together on Kung Fu Panda 2. Their real-life friendship helped inspire the story about two friends trying to stay together.

The movie also has a strong voice cast. H.E.R. voices Jo, while Liza Soberano voices Raissa. Other stars in the cast include Lea Salonga, Manny Jacinto, Dave Franco and Jenny Slate.

Before its cinema release, “Forgotten Island” was shown at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France. The movie received a strong reaction from the audience, who gave it a long standing ovation.

“Forgotten Island” will arrive in theaters on September 25, 2026, giving families and animation fans a new story about friendship, memories and Filipino mythology.
