Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has criticised rapper Nicki Minaj over her public support for President Donald Trump, questioning how the artist uses her influence while the administration continues its immigration policies.

Crockett made the comments during an interview with TMZ in New York City on November 3, 2026. She accused Minaj of using her large platform for personal interests rather than supporting the wider community.

“I don't appreciate Nicki because I feel like everything that she's doing is about herself and it has nothing to do with us collectively,” Crockett said.

The congresswoman also questioned Minaj's public alignment with the Trump administration, pointing to the rapper's immigrant background and the administration's immigration enforcement activities. Minaj was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to the United States as a child.

Crockett also spoke about the role public figures can play in bringing communities together. She encouraged people to use their voices to support one another rather than create further division. She also discussed the importance of cooperation between Muslim and Jewish communities in Michigan and beyond.

This is not the first time Crockett has spoken against Minaj's political position. In February 2026, she called the rapper a “sellout” during another interview with TMZ, criticising her support for Trump and the administration's approach to immigration.

Minaj has publicly expressed support for Trump, making her political views a subject of discussion beyond her music career. Crockett's latest comments have brought that disagreement back into the spotlight.
