Mutesi Jolly, Butera Knowless and Sherrie Silver are once again putting Rwanda in the spotlight after earning multiple nominations at the Zikomo Africa & Caribbean Awards 2026 in Tanzania.
The three Rwandan women are well-known names in entertainment, fashion, dance and philanthropy, with each building a remarkable career and making history in her own field. They are also close friends who have continued to support each other’s work while representing Rwanda on both local and international stages.
Mutesi Jolly, who was crowned Miss Rwanda 2016, is nominated for Best Zikomo Inspirational Personality of the Year and Best Zikomo Fashionable Celebrity of the Year.
Butera Knowless, one of Rwanda’s most successful female musicians, made history by winning Primus Guma Guma SuperStar in 2015. She is now nominated for Best Zikomo Music Video of the Year for Ntacyo.
Sherrie Silver, an internationally recognized Rwandan dancer and choreographer, reached another major milestone when she won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography in 2018. She has now received nominations for Best Zikomo Impact Woman of the Year and Best Zikomo Choreographer of the Year.
From winning major national titles to earning global recognition, the three women have built careers that have helped raise Rwanda’s profile in the creative world. Their latest Zikomo nominations add another chapter to their journeys—and give Rwanda more reasons to celebrate.
The Zikomo Africa & Caribbean Awards 2026 gala is scheduled for December 9 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
