Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has asked for patience after a difficult start to the 2026–27 season, saying he remains confident his team will improve once they find their rhythm.
Spurs suffered a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, ending their Carabao Cup campaign in the third round. Conor Gallagher scored Tottenham’s only goal after Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo had put Liverpool ahead, before Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the win late in the game.
The defeat extended Tottenham’s difficult run. They have taken just two points from their first four Premier League matches and are still searching for their first league win and goal of the season.
De Zerbi said the team is “suffering” because of the results but believes the squad has the quality to turn things around.
“I think we are going to win many games and score many goals,” De Zerbi said after the Liverpool defeat.
Tottenham invested more than £300 million in new players during the summer, including Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Savio, Omar Marmoush and Mykhailo Mudryk. De Zerbi said the team is still in the early stages of a new project.
The Italian manager now turns his attention to the Premier League, with Tottenham set to face Aston Villa on Saturday as they continue their search for their first league victory of the season.
