Zambian rapper and singer Sampa the Great has teamed up with Australian singer Sia on “Supernova,” one of the standout collaborations from her new album, Nu Zamrock.

Released on October 30, 2026, the 16-track album brings together hip-hop, African rhythms, rock and modern production. “Supernova” gives the project an international touch, with Sia taking the lead on the chorus while exchanging lines with Sampa during the verses.

The song combines a light synth melody with heavy drums that create a marching-band feel. Its layered vocals also give it an atmospheric sound, making it one of the album's notable moments.

Nu Zamrock takes inspiration from Zambia's 1970s Zamrock movement, which brought together rock, funk and African musical influences. Sampa's connection to the genre became more personal after she discovered that her uncle, George Kunda, was a founding member of the legendary Zambian psychedelic rock band WITCH.

That family discovery helped shape the direction of the album. Rather than simply bringing back an old musical style, Sampa uses it as a foundation for her own sound, mixing its history with contemporary hip-hop and Afro-fusion.

The album also features other collaborations, including “Can't Hold Us” with Mwanjé, “Star” with KAMAUU and “Gone” with Nicole Gumbe.

With Nu Zamrock, Sampa the Great brings attention to Zambia's musical heritage while introducing it to new listeners through a modern African sound. The collaboration with Sia adds another international voice to that musical journey.
