Actress Teyonah Parris is set to star alongside Denzel Washington in a new crime thriller from Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists. The untitled film will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, known for his work on the Mission: Impossible movies.
The story follows a former police detective, played by Washington, who is serving a life sentence when he learns he has terminal brain cancer. After receiving compassionate release with six months to live, he returns home hoping to reconnect with his estranged daughter and meet a grandson he never knew.
However, his troubled past continues to follow him as he tries to rebuild his family relationships.
Parris has reportedly secured a co-starring role, although her exact character has not been officially confirmed.
The screenplay was written by Scott Barkan and Gregg Zehentner. Filming is expected to begin in New Jersey in November 2026.
The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 1, 2027.
