Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel has released a new romantic song called “You’re Important.” The single arrived on September 19, 2026, with an official music video directed by WAMM.
The song shows a softer side of Kartel as he focuses on love and the importance of a special person in his life. It comes as the artist continues to release new music after returning to the music scene following more than a decade in prison.
“You’re Important” follows Kartel’s 2026 album “God and Time,” which was released on June 5. The album has 14 songs and includes collaborations with artists such as Wizkid, Spice, Shenseea, Farruko, Skillibeng and Mavado.
The album also showed different sides of Kartel’s music. Songs such as “Stay For The Night” with Wizkid and “Confessions” with Spice brought more romantic themes, while other tracks kept his dancehall sound.
Kartel has also spoken about how his life experiences have shaped his music. After spending 13 years in prison, he returned to music with new projects and continued working on songs after his release in 2024.
The release of “You’re Important” adds another song to Kartel’s busy 2026 music run. The track is now available on streaming platforms, while the official music video is available on YouTube.
