Rwandan champions APR FC have arrived in Lubumbashi, DR Congo, ahead of their 2026/27 CAF Champions League first-round match against Les Aigles du Congo.
APR FC arrived at Luano Airport on Sunday morning for the first leg of their preliminary-round tie against Les Aigles du Congo at Stade Frédéric Kibassa-Maliba.
The match is scheduled for Sunday, September 6, at 2:00 PM GMT (4:00 PM Kigali time) and will be played without spectators because of security concerns.
APR FC are also following strict travel and safety measures. The team will not stay overnight in Lubumbashi and is expected to return to Kigali immediately after the match. The delegation also traveled with its own food, snacks and water.
The two teams will also have limited contact around the match, with no jersey exchanges or close interactions between the official delegations.
Les Aigles du Congo will be without winger Ibrahim Matobo, forward Esdras Makosi and captain Helton Kayembe, according to reports from Lubumbashi.
APR FC also postponed their Rwanda Premier League opening match against Musanze FC to focus on their CAF Champions League campaign.
The winner of the two-leg tie will move on to the final qualifying round, where they will face the winner of AS Port and Zamalek SC for a place in the CAF Champions League group stage.
