Eva Longoria has shared a new update on her upcoming Netflix comedy, The Fifth Wheel, revealing that the film is nearing the end of post-production and is planned to premiere in spring 2027.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the Día de Muertos Gala at Universal Studios in California on October 27, 2026, Longoria said the team was preparing to lock the film’s final edit. She also praised Kim Kardashian, who stars in the movie, describing working with her longtime friend as a dream.

The Fifth Wheel follows a group of high school friends who reunite for a weekend trip to Las Vegas. Their plans take an unexpected turn when a glamorous outsider, played by Kardashian, joins them and disrupts their reunion. The story explores friendship, personal mistakes and complicated relationships.

Kardashian stars alongside Nikki Glaser, Fortune Feimster and Brenda Song. The wider cast also includes Will Ferrell, Jack Whitehall, Casey Wilson, Kristen Wiig and 50 Cent, according to Longoria’s interview with PEOPLE.

Longoria described the project as a modern, unapologetically R-rated female comedy. She also called Kardashian the film’s anchor and said audiences would be surprised by how funny she is. The two have reportedly been friends for 25 years.

The film marks another directing project for Longoria, following her 2023 feature Flamin’ Hot. For Kardashian, it is another major step in her acting career as she takes on a leading role in a Netflix feature film.

Although Netflix has not announced an exact release date, Longoria’s latest comments point to a planned spring 2027 premiere.
